2010 艾克顿中文学校北京夏令营  (English)


2010年初夏,艾克顿中文学校在北京语言大学里成功地组织举办了首届夏令营。作为中文教学的补充,北京夏令营的宗旨是,打破过去陈旧单一“课堂”的教学模式,丰富了语言课的教学内容和趣味性,让学生有机会亲临长城故宫,亲身体验中国文化的博大精深,亲身感受中华大地的历史渊源,从而激发他们学习中文的激情。同时,中文学校还邀请了Acton-Boxborough 地区高中的学生参加北京夏令营,支援高中的中文教学。

参加今年北京夏令营的10位学员,是来自艾克顿中文学校的高年级学生和Acton- Boxborough地区高中上中文课的非华裔学生,他们是孔令熙、沈皓天、戴依缘、毕丹林、王月媛、林加美、米汤姆、林艾迪、米贝卡、葛明海。6月初,哈佛大学的中文教师、中文学校的九年级老师,王苗苗先期到北京为夏令营作准备。6月25日,王建国校长带领夏令营的学员们,离开波士顿前往北京夏令营营地。Acton-Boxborough 地区高中的中文教师李日新,随后抵达北京夏令营,和王苗苗一起辅导营员们学习、照顾孩子们的生活。

夏令营内容丰富有趣,有中文语言强化学习,教学大纲由艾克顿中文学校根据华裔和非华裔的特点精心设计,王苗苗、李日新、史建英、王建国花了大量的时间精力研究修改,孔轩还专门去了一趟北京语言大学校园实地考察。王建国和王苗苗无数次同北京方面联系,聘请北京语言大学资深对外汉语老师教语言课,语言大学艺术系的老师、中央美术学院、北京体育大学的老师教文化课。采用情景教学课后实践的方式,像讲解风土人情、实用词汇、 语言实践、随机采访;有中国文化体验欣赏,像武术、书法、国画、水彩、笛子、葫芦丝、二胡、古筝、琵琶、脸谱、中国菜谱;有互动实践体验,比如:包饺子、学做中国菜、商场购物的砍价技巧、公交车上当售票员、与北京地质大学附中的同学联谊交流、到中学生的家里作客、当义工帮助海淀区的贫困孩子等等。

学习之余,安排丰富的游览内容和娱乐活动。游览故宫、天安门广场、长城,参观鸟巢、水立方、国家博物馆,中国大剧院看杂技比表演、歌舞厅K歌、老子号饭店美食,游览古城西安,参观世界十大奇观之一“兵马俑”。在夏令营闭营典礼上,学员和老师们联欢感谢,互赠礼物。每个学员都获得由北京语言大学签发的结业证书,整个夏令营在学员和老师们的欢乐声中落下帷。

7月13日学员们由李日新老师带领,乘机安全返回波士顿。

 


ACLS Beijing Summer Camp 2010


In early summer of 2010, ACLS successfully hosted the first summer camp in the campus of Beijing Language and Culture University. As a supplementary program to the Chinese language programs offered by ACLS, the Beijing summer camp was initiated to add live experience for the students of the Chinese language classes, give them the opportunity to climb to the Great Wall, to visit the Forbidden City, to learn Chinese language and culture in the very place where Chinese is spoken. Students with interesting in Chinese language from the AB Regional High School also joined the summer camp.

In the early of June, Miaomiao Wang, Chinese language teacher of ACLS and Harvard University, arrived Beijing to do massive preparations for summer camp. On June 25, Jianguo Wang, the Principal of ACLS, and the 10 campers, who are ACLS higher graders and non-Chinese students from ABRHS, left Boston for Beijing summer camp at Beijing Language and Culture University. The campers are Albert Kong, Andy Shen, Alex Dai, Daniel Bi, Clara Wang, Janice Lin, Thomas Meagher, Edward Livshits, Rebecca Meaghe, Chris Hart. Successively, Rixin Li, Chinese language teacher of ABRHS went to camp and joined as camp instructor.

The summer camp programs were designed by Miaomiao Wang, Rixin Li, Jianying Shi, Jianguo Wang and Xuan Kong. The camp is good for the students who are from both Chinese and non-Chinese family. The Chinese language program was instructed by the senior teachers from Beijing Language and Culture University, and the Chinese culture classes are taught by the teachers from the Art Department of BLCU, the China Central Academy Of Fine Arts and Beijing Sports University. The students learned Chinese by living with Chinese-speaking friends, practicing with vocabulary from local people and experiencing the daily life. They also learned martial arts, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, water color, Chinese instruments, Styles of makeup and Chinese cuisine; they practiced bargaining at the shopping centers and ticket-selling in buses, made friends with students from associated high school of China University of Geosciences, visited the families of their Beijing local high school students, and volunteered at the migrant laborer resident and the poor in Beijing.

The students also visited the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, Beijing National Stadium, the National Swimming Center, the National Museum, the National Center for the Performing Arts, Karaoke halls, famous restaurants and a 3-day tour to Xi’an. Each student gets a certificate from the Beijing Language and Culture University at the closing ceremony.

The campers were back to home safely accompanied by teacher Rixin Li on July 13.
